Types Of Agencies
In a real estate transaction there are only three types of agency.
Seller Agency
This occurs when you have me list your home. You are establishing a relationship with Royal Lepage State Realty and myself to represent your interests exclusively. Upon signing the listing agreement you are giving me the authority to sell your property.
Buyer Agency
This occurs when an agent represents the interest of the Buyer. Buyer agency can be established by implication, as well as written agreement/contract. Buyers seeking exclusive representation usually do so through an agency agreement. When buying a home with me, you will be entering a buyer agency agreement with us at that point.
Dual Agency
This occurs when another agent from Royal Lepage State Realty represents the interests of the buyer in a real estate transaction while I am representing your interests as the seller. This also occurs if one of our clients would like to purchase your home. He would be representing the interests of both the buyer and seller.
This is just a brief overview on the three different types of Agency. I would be more than happy to go into further detail with you.
